FAQ's
What if I miss a lesson ?
Don't worry if you miss a lesson. You will be provided all the class material along with explanations in digital and/or paper format. You can always speak to the teacher to clarify your doubts too.
Can I change my group if I feel like it's wrong for me ?
If we have availability in one of the groups of your level, we'll be happy to move you to another group at the beginning of the session. However, if you're unsure of your level, I suggest you book a free discovery call with me before signing up.
Do I need to purchase any material ?
Yes, you need to purchase the graphic novel that we're working with - Ce n'est pas toi que j'attendais by Fabien Toulmé. You can let us know via email and we'll place an order for you at La Belle Adventure Bookstore on Leith Walk. Once the book arrives, we'll let you know and you can pick it up. All the other class material will be provided to you in digital and paper format. We curate our resources using authentic French and Francophone documents, so you need not purchase anything else. :)
Will the class be 100% in French?
We aim to immerse you in French as much as possible, using clear visuals, gestures, and repetition to help you understand naturally. However, your teacher may use a bit of English occasionally to explain trickier grammar points or to clarify instructions if needed. Our goal is to make you feel confident — not lost!
What kind of activities do we do in class?
We use a mix of conversation games, pair work, creative tasks, role plays, storytelling, listening activities, and more — all based on real-life situations. Our sessions are designed to be fun, dynamic and meaningful, so you’ll learn without even noticing!
Is it only reading or do we speak too ?
You'll speak a lot! Every session includes guided conversation based on what we've read - characters, themes, vocabulary, your reactions. Reading is just the starting point; expression is the goal.
Why should I learn this way?
Because it's fun, effective, and it sticks. Comic books give you visual context, real dialogue, and cultural depth - so you understand and remember more, without the overwhelm. You learn naturally, just like in real life: through stories, emotions, and curiosity. Perfect for visual learners, creative minds, and anyone bored by traditional methods.
